“My passion for nutrition derives from a few sources. First, as a student of health, nutrition, and fitness for the past 10+ years, I have come across hundreds of articles and blogs that spew countless amounts of misinformation, gimmicks, and scams that millions of people fall for not knowing any better. Second, as a personal trainer, I was limited as to the amount of advice I could provide my clients, and I recognized the missing component of nutrition in their overall pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.

Finally, I experienced first- hand the damage that unfounded nutritional advice can have on an individual’s long-term health and relationship with food after competing in a Bodybuilding competition. After completing the competition, my weight ballooned from 123 lbs to my highest weight ever at 150 lbs in a span of 2-3 months. I had no direction on what to do next and quickly realized that the easy part was preparing to compete. The hard part was finding “normalcy” in my day to day without loads of cardio, prepped meals and hyper-analyzing my figure. My cravings for sweet and salty foods were off the charts, I had swelling in my joints, and was overall uncomfortable and embarrassed. In my quest to figure out what to do to overcome this, I realized that I was not alone. Other women and men were also struggling with similar issues post-competition or at the conclusion of a strict fad diet, they followed. The search for answers galvanized my pursuit to gain a deeper understanding of nutrition.

My goal is to help educate health and fitness professionals on various nutrition topics and facilitate a partnership with local nutritionists, ensuring they can work collaboratively to provide clients with the best tools and support for long-term success.

In Katie’s spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, playing fetch with her dog Scout, a good book, and being physically active!”
